Steps to Follow for Using Own Car For Driving Test
- Keep the car's interior clean and free of smoke.
- Remove all hindrances from the dashboard to ensure a clear view.
- Get additional rear mirror(s) and L plates as required.
- Check all lights are functional - headlights, indicators and brake lights.
- Check tyre tread limits and no warning lights on dashboard.

Whats is expected while driving
- During the test, the examiner will check whether you can safely move off forward by doing a six-point check. Here are the steps:
- Check the blind spots over your left shoulder
- Look over your left mirror
- Look at the centre mirror
- Look over your right mirror
- Check the blind spots over your right shoulder
- Finally, gear on and look over your right shoulder before moving on
- Just interchange right with left based on which side of the road you are in.
- To activate the indicators, first check the center mirror and then the corresponding left or right mirror before turning them on.
- When approaching a roundabout or turning, it is important to slow down well in advance, ideally at least 100 meters before reaching it. This will ensure that your driving instructor is aware of your intentions, as they do not have the additional control of a clutch and brake that comes with a driving school car.
- To perform reverse parking and driving 2 car lengths
- it is important to follow these steps:
- Before starting to reverse: Perform a 6 point blind spot check
- Check the blind spots over your right shoulder
- Look over your right mirror
- Look at the centre mirror
- Look over your left mirror
- Check the blind spots over your left shoulder
- Finally, gear on and look over your Left shoulder before moving on.
- While reversing:
- Look over your left shoulder, centre mirror, and right mirror frequently to ensure safety and avoid obstacles.
